So a little while ago I shared Arcade Fire's video for their track 'Porno', which was the first glimpse of footage from a feature length film called The Reflektor Tapes. At the time there wasn't much information about what to expect, but having now seen the project, it proved to be an odd mash up of live tour footage, the recording process of the subject album, and snippets of interviews with Win Butler & Régine Chassagne, all viewed through a kaleidoscope lens.
Whilst there were flashes of brilliance the end result definitely left a lot to be desired, but the silver lining is that the event was marked with a deluxe release of Reflektor. What this means is new-old Arcade Fire music, featuring 5 unreleased outtakes from the album sessions and a remix of 'Lightbulb Eyes'. Two of those tracks, 'Get Right' & 'Crucified Again', were released as a limited 7" single, and the former really grows into something that would have sounded perfectly at home alongside all its James Murphy produced siblings, whereas 'Crucified Again' sounds more Neon Bible to me.
