155 Free 'Aphex Twin' Demos

I've been a bit absent of late, and have been feeling pretty bad about it, so I figured this would tide you over until I formulate more words and sentences.

Having returned magnanimously from his long term hiatus late last year, the ever mysterious Aphex Twin is up to his old tricks again. Not content with simply releasing the Grammy award winning Dance/Electronic album Syro, he followed up with Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt2 EP just last month, and now he may (or may not) have just released 155 demos that can be downloaded for free via the creatively named 'user48736353001' Soundcloud account linked above.

There's been no official confirmation but the Richard D. James fans are ablaze with rumour and speculation, with the consensus swaying towards that the tracks are legitimate. The initial tracks were tagged as '#like early AFX' before eventually progressing to just '#AFX' in a steady stream of released music that started 15 days ago, and appears to have drawn to a close 3 days ago, ending up at 155 tracks in total. There were 2 tracks that surfaced before disappearing, no word on why they didn't make the final cut at this stage though.

James is no stranger to unique and inventive means of promotion, as the run up to the Syro album announcement included flying a blimp over Oval Space in London, and leaving his logo on a dirty plate of jerk chicken sauce.

When asked by Rolling Stone if he was planning on releasing more new music soon, James replied "I'm in that mode now, so hopefully I'll stay in it for a while" before stating that he has "Shitloads of stuff."

The above news will either be like Christmas day for you, or leave you wondering what all the fuss is about, but delve into the above and see if there's something that piques your interest. Who knows, there might just be the next Kanye West sample in there:
