Back in my most anticipated albums of 2015 list, I begged that this would mark the year that Jamie xx finally releases his debut album, and just a few months in, the news has been shared that ensures that I won't end the year disappointed.
The longing for further material from the London producer stemmed from my first listen to 2011's We're New Here, the brilliant remix album of Gil Scott Heron's I'm New Here. It was a remarkable release that caught everybody off guard, and has left the masses longing for more.
Since 2011, Jamie's kept himself busy, not only recording and touring music with his band The xx, but has also shared a slow trickle of quality singles, including 'Far Nearer' and 'Beat For' way back in 2011, before gracing us with 'Girl' , 'Sleep Sound' and 'All Under One Roof Raving' just last year.
Now, we've been gifted both 'Loud Places' featuring Romy of The xx, and the jungle inspired 'Gosh' alongside the news that the album is set to be called In Colour, and will be out on 1st June via Young Turks. The colourful album cover, which maintains Jamie's trademark rectangle, is below, followed by the album's tracklisting.
2. Sleep Sound
3. SeeSaw (Feat. Romy)
5. Just Saying
6. Stranger In A Room (Feat. Oliver Sim)
7. Hold Tight
8. Loud Places (Feat. Romy)
9. I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times) (Feat. Young Thug & Popcaan)
10. The Rest Is Noise
Oliver Sim may well be another name you'd recognise, he's the third and final part to The xx after Jamie and Romy, so despite being a solo album, it's still a family affair. Despite being satisfied with both new music and a release date finally in the diary, I still reserve the right to be impatient ahead of 1st June.
