The Magic Whip is almost upon us, and Blur have found time to release a third video, this time for 'Lonesome Street'.
In what is the most Blur-sounding single yet shared from the album, for me personally, this track falls shorts for exactly that reason: it sounds a lot like the band's older material - material that never excited me the first time I heard it. That being said, many fans have expressed their love for this track however, and appreciate the throwback sound.
Not stopping there, with the album out in just over a week, 'My Terracotta Heart' has too been shared, and this one carries a bit more weight for me, mainly because it reflects on the turbulent relationship between Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon. It's heartfelt, and fragile, so the title is pretty apt, and Coxon's "crying guitar" twinned with Albarn's words offers a true sense of honesty:
"Seemed like a breath of fresh air back in the summertime/When we were more like brothers, that was years ago"
The Magic Whip is out on 27th April.
