Ahead of their forthcoming third album, Mumford & Sons announced that they were ditching the banjos and going electric, and the video for 'Believe' showcases their efforts. In what is essentially a London remake of C'était Un Rendez-vous, the video is a first person drive through the capital which provides the perfect visuals for a rather middle of the road song.
I'm not really what you would call a Mumford & Sons fan but their inoffensive music means that I can happily take or leave them. I was, however, rather baffled by their Glastonbury headlining slot back in 2013, as I definitely never saw them as headline material, especially when only two albums deep.
This shift then will likely provide the Stadium-rock songs that they're looking for to further their appeal. While I won't be paying to see them live, above all else it's reaffirming to see four guys from London make it this far in such a short period of time.
They've also now shared 'The Wolf', which joined 'Believe' on a double A-side 7" single that was put out for Record Store Day yesterday.
Wilder Mind is out on 4th May 2015.
