When I first heard of Wolf Alice, I knew the name sounded familiar. It took me a minute but I realised it's the name from one of Angela Carter's short stories from her The Bloody Chamber collection. The band based the name on this, so presumably they studied A-Level English as well. Small world right? Anyway...
Having been touted as the next big thing for some time, Wolf Alice hadn't really gripped me just yet. Their previous singles (such as 'Moaning Lise Smile') were decent but either didn't immediately enthrall me, or do enough for me to delve deeper into their brief discography. However with the release of 'Giant Peach' a track that the band describes as a love affair with London that you can "lose your shit to", I was sold.
The video features a few familiar faces, and is worth the watch, even if it is just to see Keith from The Office, who appears in the lead up to the satisfyingly heavy outro.
My Love Is Cool, the band's debut album, is due out on 22nd June via Dirty Hit/RCA Records.
