Sweet Valley is the pairing of/bloodpact between Waaves frontman Nathan Williams and his brother Kynan, and the Californian duo have been releasing a steady stream of beat tapes since 2012.
Of late, they've been recruiting the help of musicians and rappers such as MNDR and DaVinci to provide lyrics to their instrumentals, and on 'Big Blue' they've enlisted the help of Juicy J and Soulja Boy. While it's a common for beatmakers to try and lure well known artists onto their tracks to help promote their own sound, this time around it's definitely Sweet Valley and their airy, tropical beat that steals the show.
Soulja Boy trades off some rather average bars that criminally aren't even new, instead borrowing heavily from his own track 'We Don't Fight', and while Juicy J rounds off the track with a catchy refrain, he also doesn't do much to raise the bar on this one.
'Big Blue' is still well worth a listen, but if anyone out there finds an isolated instrumental version, be sure to send it my way.
