It's likely that you don't yet know Aero Flynn, but this is your call to sit up and start learning. The man behind the moniker is Josh Scott, a revered Eau Claire, Wisconsin legend. That city may well sound familiar as it's Justin Vernon's home town, and has spawned the likes of Bon Iver, Volcano Choir, Megafaun, and Field Report, and while Scott has remained relatively unknown, it's not through a lack of talent. No, in fact he's hidden for years, and has only just emerged with his first record, the self titled Aero Flynn which has been produced by Vernon and features members of Bon Iver.
Where the last video I posted was exceptionally warm (Ducktail's 'Headbanging In The Mirror') it's safe to say the video for 'Dk/Pi' is far colder, replacing the palm trees with snowmobiles. That being said, it's not as hostile as you might expect, and invokes memories of Radiohead but never feels like an imitation.
The album offers up many more facets to Scott as a songwriter, and he's a fascinating individual who shouldn't be underestimated. There's a hugely insightful story written by Field Report's Chris Porterfield that can be found further down on Aero Flynn's website, and I'm already fascinated by the man.
Long live Eau Claire, may you continue to produce legends.
