New Jersey band Titus Andronicus have announced details of their upcoming fourth album The Most Lamentable Tragedy, a "Rock Opera" which is set to feature 29 songs and a run time of 93 minutes.
Sharing 'Dimed Out' as the first single, the track sets the pace on a story that, according to the press release "concerns an unnamed protagonist whom we meet in deep despair. Following an encounter with his own doppelgänger (an enigmatic stranger, identical in appearance though opposite in disposition), long held secrets are revealed, sending our protagonist on a transformative odyssey, through past lives and new loves, to the shocking revelation that the very thing that sustains him may be the thing to destroy him."
Whilst we're assured it's a work of fiction, it's surely going to be quite the journey, and the smart money would probably bet on a few more Shakespeare references throughout. The band has also followed with a second single 'Fatal Flaw', which doesn't excite me quite as much, but can be heard below.
The Most Lamentable Tragedy is out on 28th July via Merge Records.
