Over at the Seshwyn Road Studios we're full of terrible ideas (I'd go as far as saying it's our specialty), so when I turned around and said that we should 'ride the wave from our night out and record the podcast' once we got back to Tooting, I probably should've realised that it might not go perfectly to plan.
A 14 piece orchestra, several crude McDonald's creations, a couple of Hanra naps and one lost hour later, we give you Episode 6 of the Seshwyn Road Podcast. Enjoy (hopefully).
As always the Spotify playlist is back & below are the elusive tracks that can't be found that easily.
Bohannonn provided Hanra's latest funky pick, his debut single from 1973 sounding as fresh now as I'm sure it did then.
Kriki is fronted by friend of the show Katrín who I recently met in Iceland. She and her band mates just crowdfunded their fantastic debut album Svefn (which translates to Sleep) which is well worth a listen over at their website. I picked 'Apollo', one of many highlights, and whilst the rendition below is a slightly older version than the final album cut, it should paint the sonic picture of the band's dreamy sound.
After doing some more in-depth research (namely crudely translating a Japanese Wikipedia page) the Seaside Lovers album Memories In Beach House appears to be a compilation of funky tropical hits from Japan in the early 80's rather than a studio album. Either way, here's 'Sun Bathing'.
Finally we have a band a whole lot more local, Dreamherbs. Hailing from my home town Walthamstow, they treated me and Christy to an Odyssey a few nights ago, and I'm definitely going to try and catch them playing live again soon. Incorporating a little bit of a lot of legendary bands, their mix of psychedelic stoner face-melting isn't fully on display during 'No Durty Business' but hopefully it's a gentle introduction to their madness.
Thanks once again if you've listened to us ramble, hopefully we played something new that you grow to love, it's all we aim for. If not then join us next time for more nonsense and obscure bangers, most probably at a healthier hour.
