It's April, barely. I doubt anyone has really been questioning our absence but fear not, we're just about maintaining our one episode per month schedule. Christy, Hanra and I actually sat down to record this a few weeks back but given our hectic international lifestyles, we've only just managed to find time to deliver you over two hours of hot podcast action.
Episode 7 is ready for you, are you ready for it? As always, we hope you enjoy it, and I'l follow up with the links and playlists below.
Kicking us off this time around was this gem from Lou Phelps. 'What Time Is It?' is produced by Phelps's older brother Kaytranada and also features Innanet James. Definitely one to watch out for, clearly a talented family.
After that we had our first ever Russian track, the dreamy 'Living For Today' by mysterious The Alien Graves. Still the sole track available online from this band, I'll let you know if anything else ever surfaces...
In our efforts to remain as obscure and diverse as ever, we welcomed the return of our Random Country segment. 'I Am Your Doctor' by King Ellie Matt was Hanra's pick for Saint Kitts & Nevis and the Calypso tune is said to be taking aim at the two Island Federation's first ever PM Sir Kennedy Simmonds. Now you know.
Christy then rolled through with his Random country selection, 'Segai' by Nomadic. Hailing from Botswana, Christy delved into the popular Motswako genre, a Southern African genre of Hip-hop that combines the local language Setswana with English. As Hanra often says about foreign language rap, it's all about the flow and Nomadic certainly delivers it.
Our final pick that couldn't be sourced on Spotify comes courtesy of New Zealand's Home Brew. 'Yellow Snot Funk' is an ode to excess, which shouldn't come as a surprise given the artist's name is a reference to homemade alcohol. I wish you luck in trying to get those trumpets out of your head.
With April practically over, May's episode won't be far behind so get listening, and if you're feeling kind, then get sharing. If you've got song suggestions, segment ideas, or some hot Kid Rock News then we can be contacted on the Twitter or email below.
Until next time, look after yourself and be excellent to each other...
