I've seen a a fair bit written about Death Cab For Cutie and their upcoming eighth studio album Kintsugi recently. There's a lot being made of the fact that the album will be the last to feature Chris Walla, the guitarist and songwriter who has been with the band since their start in 1997.
I'm really not that well versed in all things DCFC, but he's clearly played a huge part in their history and success, so it'll be interesting to see how the album fares, and what comes next for both the band and himself personally.
However, what we do know is that the first single 'Black Sun' is pretty good. It's highly unlikely to blow any minds but it may well appeal to anyone who has previously been put off by the band's twinkly/overtly emotional sound, instead sounding brooding and meditative.
Kintsugi is due out on 31st March 2015.
