The album may only be 5 songs long, but presented to you right now are two of them, which combined clock in at just shy on an impressive 18 minutes. Up top we have 'Come Back', which perfectly showcases the band's loud/soft dynamic which has won them repeated critical acclaim since the release of 2013's Sunbather. The opening notes bare a striking resemblance to the start of Godspeed You! Black Emperor's 'Sleep' (not a bad thing at all), and the closing two minutes have drawn comparisons to Explosions In The Sky & even OK Computer-era Radiohead.
'Brought To The Water' moves away from the shoegaze elements that the band implemented so well, but injects some thrash into the mix instead. I hate all the genre debates, but basically the Black Metal kids don't know whether to laugh or cry, but I personally think it's another great, sonically sprawling number that twists and turns in countless directions without ever feeling lost.
